Here are a few ways that you can help continue the air purification even after our services:

Control Moisture

One of the most important things a homeowner can do to improve the air quality in their home is to control the amount of moisture and humidity found in the air. Using humidifiers can help control humidity levels in your home, but be very diligent about cleaning them as humidifiers can be breeding grounds for mold. By keeping areas in your home like the basement and bathrooms well ventilated and dry, this will also help reduce the amount of moisture and humidity in the air and reduce the possibility of mold and mildew growth. It is recommended the you should keep the humidity level in your home around 60. This will help control mold, mildew and dust mites.

Use Indoor House Plants

Indoor house plants are also another great way to help improve the quality of indoor air within your home. There are several different types of indoor plants that not only make great home decor, but also act as a natural air purifier; Spider plant, Elephant Ear, Bamboo Palm are just a few. These indoor plants take in toxins found in the air through their leaves and roots ridding your home of these harmful VOC’s and producing oxygen.

No Smoking Indoors

Smoking is another one of those bad habits that are not only harmful to the user, but just as harmful to those around them. If you or someone in your home some inside the home STOP! There is no safe level of cigarette smoke, secondhand or otherwise. Smoking is one of the major contributors to indoor air pollution. There are more than 7,000 chemical compounds in cigarette smoke and more than 250 are known to be harmful, with over 60 of them known to cause cancer. Smoking increases the risk of asthma, cancer, respiratory infections, ear infections and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). By making your home smoke free you not only increase the quality of your indoor air, but also the quality of life for those in your home.

Proper Ventilation

Creating circulation in your home is important. Many homes today are constructed to be air-tight, this traps in pollutants. Opening windows when weather permits, especially when you are using cleaning chemicals will help ventilate those toxins. There are a few things to consider when building or remodeling your home, in the kitchen and bathroom place exhaust fans to help vent out moisture and humidity produced by everyday activities. By ventilating your home you can reduce the risk of dampness and mold growth, which in turns reduces the risk of health related problems such as wheezing, coughing, and asthma attacks. Adequate ventilation helps remove moisture that normal everyday activities like cooking, washing and yes, even breathing can cause.

Use HEPA Filters

Allergens and chemicals accumulate in dust. By placing a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter in your vacuum and your home air returns you can drastically reduce the level of toxins in your home. HEPA filters can remove up to 99.97% of airborne particles. HEPA filters are randomly arranged fibers in a specific filter thickness. HEPA filters are depth filters, meaning that they trap particulars not just on the surface, but also at any point within the filter. HEPA filters help remove not only harmful toxins, but also pet dander, dust mites and other allergens.

When using a HEPA filter in your vacuum it helps ensure that you do not blow back dirt and dust into the air. Your vacuums HEPA filter helps prevent particles from re-circulating into the air. Using HEPA filter in your vacuum helps reduce allergens that are .3 microns. HEPA filters should be replaced about every six to twelve months.
